"SPACE" - Stew Perry Award for Chemical Elements The Official Boring Amateur Radio Club Table of Chemical Elements Only these chemical elements will be used for scoring purposes for the plaque sponsored by N6ZFO. Points are awarded for the 1 or 2 letter symbols for the chemical elements when they appear in parts of the callsigns you work. We are not using any of the 3 letter symbols. The total for any callsign is the maximum sum obtained using the following rules: If the callsign prefix matches an element symbol - you get 10 points. The prefix is defined as the part of the call that appears before the first number in the callsign. If the prefix has symbol names embedded in it, you get 2 points for each. For example, if you prefix is YB, you would get 10 points for matching the symbol for Ytterbium, plus two points for Boron and another two points for Yttriumi, for a total prefix value of 14 points. A suffix that matches the symbol name is worth 7 points (don't ask us why). A suffix that has embedded symbols adds two points for each one. So, the suffix NP would be worth 7 points for matching Neptunium, two points for matching Nitrogen and another two points for matching Phosphorus for a total of 11 points. Thus, the callsign YB0NP would be worth a total of 25 points. The affect of using a portable designator is still being discussed. We will not allow /QRP or /P to add to the value of a callsign. Check back for a ruling in the matter of a callsign like YB0/OH2BH.
